September 9th saw a celebration of 10 years of Phoenix House with an open invitation to all the girls, both Alumni and current, to join us for drinks and dinner at the College.
The evening began with a champagne reception in the Inner Quad, and it was lovely to see so many old faces coming together to celebrate. It was a perfect (albeit rather hot!) summer’s evening, and former Phoenix girls were able to catch up with their old tutors, as well as meet some of the current members of the house. Later moving into the Dining Hall, the girls enjoyed a sit-down meal following a speech from their former or current Housemistress, Helena Higgins. Old ‘House Shouts’ and House Films were also screened on a projector after the meal, rekindling lots of memories. The evening ended with our Phoenix OJs spending time with current staff members in the Bar. Everyone is already looking forward to the next reunion!
“ We were blown away by the number of Alumni girls who worked the date into their busy social and work calendars, with 50 + in attendance and the staff and I particularly enjoyed hearing about their post Hurst experiences, whilst also reminiscing about their time in House. Please continue to stay in touch girls. I know our current pupils loved meeting you all and we would love to have you back to speak to the House about your work and travel. You are all wonderful role models for the next Phoenix generation. ” Helena Higgins, Phoenix Housemistress
