The College was delighted to welcome Peter Hoar, who recently directed and produced TV series It’s a Sin, to speak to the READI platform (the college’s LGBTQ+ group) and drama scholars.
Peter spoke frankly and openly to the READI platform about the television series which was enlightening. He reminisced about the struggles of the LGBTQ+ community during the HIV/AIDS outbreak in the 80s. Discussed how the show worked with the Terrence Higgins Trust to create an authentic, accurate depiction, whilst noting how things have changed. Encouraged members of the platform to live true to themselves and said that working on It’s a Sin was the most comfortable he had felt with his sexuality.
The drama scholars listened to Peter talk about how to get into the TV industry and the various career opportunities available. They were able to ask questions and gain Peter’s advice on the best routes in and who to approach.
