The Careers Department delivered two workshops to the Lower Sixth at the end of term.
Firstly, Objective Travel provided a broad range of advice on how to travel safely and adventurously. Either on a two-week Ibiza holiday or three months travelling around South America as part of a gap year.
Secondly, students were split into three working groups for a carousel of activities about how to Create your personal impact. The Careers Department was supported by Chris Richardson, a current parent, who trains professional businesspeople in these skills. The activities provided a chance for students to practise introducing themselves to someone for the first time. To learn how to successfully network amongst a large group of people they did not necessarily know. Also, to understand how easily we judge others, and why they should carefully consider the impression they want to make.
“ The rain just about held off so we could run some of the carousels outdoors. It's the first time we have organised the Create your personal impact carousels and feedback was such that we are hoping to run them again next year ” Jan Leeper, Head of Careers
