In celebration of this year’s World Book Day on Tuesday, popular author Ross Montgomery was invited to visit the Prep School Library to talk to pupils about his books.
Firstly, Ross worked with pupils in Years 2 and 3, focusing on his hilarious picture book Ten Delicious Teachers. The children enjoyed the story and designed their own monsters. With Year 4 pupils, Ross read parts of his best-selling Midnight’s Guardians and discussed its setting in London during the Second World War. Finally, he gave an atmospheric talk to Year 5 pupils about his latest book The Chime Seekers. He encouraged them to imagine a mysterious world beyond the walls of their own living rooms and to do some creative writing based around this theme.
It was a real treat for the pupils to meet Ross and see his books brought to life in such an engaging manner. All year groups had a brilliant day, and many had books signed by him to take home and enjoy.
“ It was lovely to have an author visit us in person after so long of not being able to do so, and the day did not disappoint. We will definitely invite Ross back to Hurst again next year! ” Trisha Barrett, Pre-Prep and Prep School Librarian
