Schools champs called off for safety reasons as Hurst return to compete
The Hurst Sailing team (Luka F and Hugo V) braved 30-knot gusts at Datchet Reservoir last Friday, at the Independent Schools Association Championship, entering the handicapped regatta event in Toppers.
Unfortunately, several of our rivals understandably lacked the experience to handle the extremely stormy conditions and the event turned into something of a swimming regatta, and had to be called off for safety reasons – with a Hurst sailor (Luka) in the lead!
This was a frustrating, but encouraging, return to competitive sailing for Hurst, and Master of Boats Brian Schofield has ambitions for the team to race more regularly in the Summer term.
