Hurst’s two Young Enterprise teams both won awards at the West Sussex final held at the Body Shop conference venue in Littlehampton.
Olive won the Innovation Award for their newly published County Cookbook – A Spoonful of Sussex. The idea behind cookery book was to support hospitality businesses in the county who struggled through the Covid lockdowns. Olive team members contacted a range of local restaurants and pubs and then collated their recipes for customers to try themselves.
Phufulo, who designed, sourced and made their own pet tug toys, won the Overall Best Team Award and will now move on to the South East Regional Competition in a few weeks’ time. The Phufulo team also attended the Brighton Open Market recently and found other stall holders to be very supportive. As it was a Makers Market, all the stalls were selling handmade items, which provided a great opportunity for the team to see how other businesses operate.
“ Both teams performed incredibly well at the West Sussex final. They gave great stage presentations and coped well with questions from the judges ” Jan Leeper, Head of Careers
