The Lower Sixth MUN (Model United Nations) group hosted a very successful MUN conference for Shell students on Monday. The event was full of fruitful conversations on some major topical issues.
Shell students prepared well by researching their nations’ stances on their given issues in advance. This enabled them to engage in the sessions with incredible enthusiasm, and allowed for some insightful, interesting discussions. The event started with students in their nation groups – deciding which clauses should be approved – and ended with a whole-year debate. Despite initially feeling daunted presenting in front of the whole year, students executed their tasks in an excellent fashion. In the end, most students were eager to speak, resulting in an engaging and exciting final debate on the resolutions.
Special mentions for particularly noteworthy contributions go to: Aidan S, Amelie H, Henry L, Lucca M and Thomas D representing the Russian delegation; Ben M, Tallulah G and Will L from the American delegation; Freya D and Sam J from the French delegation; as well as Katie K representing Japan, Louise K representing Germany, Edward M representing Italy, Will A for Finland and Alexander J from UAE.
“ Overall, the day was thoroughly enjoyable for both the Lower Sixth organisers and Shell participants - many of whom are now eager to continue their MUN journey further ” Issy J, Lower Sixth
