U15 Langley Rugby Festival
On the final weekend before half term, a squad of 23 U15 Eagles maintained tradition by attending the National U15 Rugby Competition at Langley School, Norfolk.
For the U15 boys, Langley School became home for two days – and they were excellent hosts. With teams such as Wellington College, Brighton College and Bedford, it was a high-quality competition.
Hurst began their campaign on day one by beating Dulwich, RGS Newcastle, Trinity and St Joseph’s to top their group. On day two, Hurst contested the cup competition against Merchiston Castle, Edinburgh and Bedford School. In a full squad effort, the Hurst defence was truly heroic, suffocating the opposition attack and forcing turnovers. Hurst won seven out of seven games beating Merchiston in the semi-finals and Bedford School in the final. The teamwork, comradery, sheer grit and determination contributed to their success and created memories that will last a lifetime.
“ “Their success was no surprise as they were impeccable on and off the pitch and absorbed information like sponges. Thanks to all the parents who came to support - it was heard and felt,” ” Simon Lilley, U15 Coach
U18 St Joseph’s College National Schools Rugby Festival
Over the weekend, 24 of our U18 squad members travelled to St Joseph’s Rugby Festival in Ipswich.
On day one, with over 600 spectators, Hurst won one out of three games. With spirits remaining high on day two, the boys set about winning the bowl competition. They played excellent rugby, did not concede a point in all three games, as they defeated their host, St Joseph’s in the semi-final and Brighton College in the final.
“ “Grit and determination were shown in abundance, with true Hurst spirit coming to the fore. A great weekend of Rugby, brilliant atmosphere and an excellent round up for the half term,” ” Freddie Pierrepont, Head of Rugby
