Hurst were thrilled to host the South East Schools Indoor Climbing Championships at High Sports in Brighton, featuring a mixture of 20 bouldering routes (low-level climbing without ropes), five lead and five top-rope routes (high-level ascent with ropes). This popular event attracted nearly 100 competitors from different schools and provided a fierce competition. It was fantastic to see such a high level of climbing across all categories with students from Trinity College, Lancing College, Ardingly, Tonbridge, Cranleigh, Brighton College, Sutton Girls and Ewell Castle in attendance.
It is rewarding to see climbing become a more prominent part of the sporting programmes across schools.
A big thank you on behalf of the college to Hennig, Fran and Clem for their help throughout the day and allowing the use of their wonderful facilities.
“ It was a thoroughly enjoyable event and so wonderful to organise a competitive championship in a minor sport ” Fred Simkins, Director of Outdoor Education
