It was an early start for Lower Sixth Model United Nations team as they headed up to Lingfield for their second conference this year.
The day opened with a short talk by Vicki Prais, a renowned human rights lawyer, who provided many valuable insights not only into the important work she does, but also how organisations such as the UN reach out to war-ridden countries.
The students then proceeded to their committees, where four hours of fierce debate ensued on a wide range of issues. From ocean acidification, to eliminating child labour, to resolving the war in Ukraine.
Finally, all students gathered for the General Assembly, where a surprise crisis was revealed. A civil war had broken out in Venezuela!
After many impassioned speeches, awards were handed out. Edward G was named Best Delegate for the Security Council, thanks to his expert mediating as the UK.
