Friday 27th January was Howard’s Charity Day. Given the increase in the cost of living, we decided to raise money and collect food for the Burgess Hill foodbank, which also offers food parcels to residents of Hassocks and Hurstpierpoint. It seemed wrong to raise money by selling cakes so we resisted the usual cake sale. We put together a raffle with prizes that money could not buy. Who could pass up the chance of a free pool session instead of a swimming lesson, Miss Crichton doing your Maths prep, using Google translate in a languages lesson or a batch of Mr. Jacques’ brownies?
We raised a whopping £1200 and collected seven wheelbarrows’ worth of food.
“ Thanks to all who bought tickets or donated food, it is going to a worthy cause. ” Philip Jacques, Head of Howard’s House
