This year’s U13 Cross-country relays were held at Ardingly College on a lovely dry and crisp day. The event consisted of two races, a boy’s race, and a girl’s race. Hurst fronted six students for this event, three from Year 7 and three from Year 8 for each race.
This event differs from the usual cross-country events as they were relays. Each runner completes a lap and then tags the next runner until all six have completed a lap. The event started with the girls, which turned into a ‘cat and mouse’ race between Hurst, Ardingly, and Windlesham, as the Hurst girls eventually took third place. The boys’ event followed, and Hurst spent most of the time in the middle of the pack, finishing in eighth place out of 14 schools.
Overall, Hurst took fifth place, as the result of a great team effort from all involved.
