The Wind in the Willows was this year’s Year 8 production. Over 70 pupils were involved in the show not only as performers but also assisting backstage, front of house and even with design elements of the production. It really was a fantastic team effort by all involved and everyone’s hard work certainly paid off with four truly memorable performances. This year we even had a matinee for visiting schools, a first in the prep school.
All performers worked hard to shape their roles and created truly memorable characters such as the flamboyant Toad, wise Badger, sarcastic Ratty and ever optimistic Mole, who all contrasted beautifully and brought the most unlikely of friends to life. The performers were lucky to have an incredible live band for the production to give that extra bit of magic to the songs and they have not stopped singing them since! The sight of carol singing mice dancing in the snow is something that many audience members will never forget.
The backstage crew worked tirelessly to create seamless changes taking the cast from the Riverbank to the Wild Wood and finishing in the grandeur of Toad Hall and a special mention must go to the technical team for helping bring so much magic to the stage.
“ The pupils really did themselves proud, creating a performance that will be remembered for a long time to come. Congratulations to all involved! ” Rose Hall-Smith, Head of Prep School Drama
