There was a showcase of talent from the Year 7s this year in the design and manufacture of their sweet dispensers. They each came up with a creative and original design idea which they then brought to life in the workshops, using hand tools, the scroll saw, pillar drill and belt and bobbing sanders.
They should all be commended on their ability to successfully create final pieces that reflected their original designs so well. The pupils worked with enthusiasm and commitment throughout, whilst remaining mindful of the important health and safety precautions of manufacturing in the workshops. Many of the finished products achieved ‘shop quality’ status and all of the students should be exceptionally proud of what they have achieved this year. We look forward to seeing more great design work from this cohort in Year 8.
“ The quality of work and creativity of the designs produced this year has been exceptional! ” Kaeran MacDonald, Head of Design and Technology
