The Jazz and Rock concert was streamed live online for the first time this year, to enable those from the Hurst community who were unable to attend in person to still see the show in all its glory. This event is settling in well to the New Bury Theatre, which provides a great atmosphere as well as brilliant sound and lighting to accompany the performers.
The show opened with two numbers by the staff band, who were accompanied on stage by Ella H, Natalie H and Katie P who provided backing vocals. James W then took the stage (who was MC along with Natalie) and played two songs alone, one of which was an original composition.
The Lower Sixth band, which is coming together very well, played Half the World Away and Valerie – complete with Ethan’s light up sticks. Ella and Katie were then joined by Cally C to perform Look at Me which they also performed at Dom Ferris’ recent Live at Hurst! The Upper Sixth band then performed a great and relaxed rendition of In Paradise, closely followed by Olivia M who played two stellar original compositions, Ophelia and Ode to Future Self.
The penultimate act was the Remove band who impressed the crowd with Don’t start now and Crazy, showcasing their good musical talent at a relatively young age. Finally, Ella, Katie and Natalie returned to play a rendition of Lizzo’s Juice which was great fun and well received by the audience.
“ Hurst 'n' Brie is up next in the summer term and from the line up in this show, it promises to be a great afternoon! ” Will Carroll, Head of Music Technology
