On Sunday 6th September, eight members of the equestrian team travelled east to Petley Wood Equestrian Centre for a National Show Jumping Qualifier.
In the 70cm we were represented by brother duo Lars and Morten. Morten is improving and gaining valuable experience each time he competes, and rode a lovely clear round. Lars on his experienced pony, Victor, had some Sat Nav errors, but he is also learning and improving swiftly.
Each of the show jumping courses caused issues in various places, as clear rounds were few and far between. In the biggest class of the day, the 80cm team of Martha – in her first competition for Hurst – Olivia and Morten finished in sixth place. In the 90cm team competition, Finn, Olivia, Harriet and Mette finished on eight faults, but with Harriet producing one of those elusive clears, the team found themselves in an unexpected second place to earn a coveted place at the National Finals in October.
In the final class of the day, Mette and Finn rolled a couple of poles between them but, once again, Harriet showed them how it is done with a stylish fast clear round. The team took another second place and Harriet achieved third place individually, which meant both the team and Harriet qualified for the National Show Jumping Finals.
“ Congratulations to all our riders, they really are proving themselves a team to be reckoned with! ” Georgina Black, Equestrian Team Manager
