Hurst Equestrian had a very successful day at the NSEA National Show Jumping qualifier at Merrist Wood during half term, with two teams and many individuals gaining qualification for the national championships in October. Despite the wet and cold weather, there was a large turn out and fantastic performances by all team members.
Firstly, Harriet, a new joiner, produced a lovely individual round in the 90cm, but was just outside of the placings. Our 90cm team of John, Harriet B, Ryan and Antonia produced three lovely clears to take third place, again just outside of a qualifying place. However, Ryan on Newton Samson, produced a tremendous round picking up second place individually and qualification for the championships.
We had two teams competing in the hotly contested 1m class and both performed fantastically well, topping the podium in first and second places, to also gain qualification for the national finals. The first team was Ryan, Jess, Antonia and Matilda, and the second team was Harriet B, plus Ryan and Matilda on their second rides. In the individual competition, Ryan on Newton Samson and Bobbie VI swept the floor, coming home with a first and second place, securing further qualification for the national championships. Matilda, riding Murphy’s Diamond, took an individual fifth place and qualification for the plate finals.
Finally, to round up the day, we had two riders jump in the 1.1m, and although it was not their day, important lessons were learnt for the upcoming season.
“ Huge congratulations to all of the Hurst riders for producing an amazing set of results, it is great to bag our spots at the championships so early on in the year! A big thank you to all the parents for their hard work too ” Georgina Black, Mistress-in-charge of Equestrian
