The winners have been announced for the fifth edition of the annual Senior School Essay Competition.
Questions were posed in all academic subjects and ranged from Has the technology industry narrowed or widened the gap between opportunities available to citizens of rich and poor nations? to The UK’s government debt is out of control, and future generations will be the ones paying the bill – discuss the extent to which this statement is true.
The word limit for each essay was 2,000 with separate Middle School and Senior School book voucher prizes for the Arts and Sciences. Many students enter to demonstrate super-curricular engagement for their personal statement when applying to highly selective universities.
The standard of entries was exceptionally high this year, especially in the Sixth Form Arts section. There were more highly commended awards than usual as the judges could not split the wealth of top-quality responses.
