Year 11 Silver DofE students departed for their penultimate expedition amidst sunshine and a pending afternoon thunderstorm.
Alternative plans were arranged for inclement weather, however a change to the forecast meant groups completed their first day ahead of storms. That evening, the heavens did open, but only one tent succumbed to the deluge.
Students started day two cheerfully, but the weather did slowly wear them down. That night, after a warm shower, bonfire and marshmallows, all felt somewhat better. The final day’s trek took in Jack and Jill and the Danny for some good climbing, and a slightly lighter rucksack.
“ Well done to the four teams from Chevron, Shield, Woodard, and Pelican for coping with a good mix of conditions ” Fred Simkins, Director of Outdoor Education
