U14Cs enjoyed excellent 50-7 victory and three members played for opposition
The U14C rugby team enjoyed an excellent 50-7 victory against The Skinners’ School last Saturday, when three members volunteered to play for the opposition.
On arrival, the Skinners’ team were three players short, and three members of our team kindly volunteered to play for the opposition against their friends and teammates. In the first half there were many fine performances from our forwards, producing quick passes to move the ball swiftly down the pitch to score all but one of our seven tries – despite the difficult wet conditions. Tom P stood out, along with Oliver O – who played for both teams – and there was some also some fine finishing from Archie B and Zach M, whilst Captain Tom N had yet another excellent week, playing neat and skilful rugby. After mixing up the teams, the second half was much closer, as both teams scored one try each however, Hurst’s fine lead in the first half was too much for Skinners’ to close down.
“The game was played in a really good spirit, aided by referee Mr Mott. It was fantastic to see how willing the boys were to play for the opposition, displaying true sportsmanship and versatility,” Roland White, Coach.
