U12s stage come back from tough draw in pool stages
The U12A team recently took part in the IAPS U12 Girls’ hockey finals at Rugby School.
Hurst had a tough draw in the pool stages but had some credible results, narrowly losing in two matches and claiming a draw against Millfield and Clifton College – who went on to finish second in the tournament.
In their match against Clifton College, the girls proved they could defend against some outstanding attacking play from the opposition. Our goalkeeper made some incredible saves and was voted the umpire’s girl of the match.
Despite some great performances the girls qualified for the Bowl competition. They continued to develop, as some of them experienced penalty strokes for the first time, and made their way through to the Bowl final. The girls showed great determination in the final to secure a convincing 5-1 win.
“A fantastic day all round as the girls improved with every match and returned to Hurst with a well-deserved medal as winners of the Bowl”, Kristina Money, Head of Girls’ Sport, Prep School.
