The whole school were invited to draw around their hands and be part of the new ‘Hurst Community’ display in the DT foyer of the Science Block. Both students and staff were encouraged to add a message or quote to their ‘hand’, and a few key highlights include: ‘Diversity: the art of thinking independently together’, ‘There’s one day after tomorrow which is totally untouched’, ‘To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong’.
The display includes paint handprints from the Junior Prep, and Senior School hands cut out of a variety of materials that would otherwise have been thrown away as waste: wood, veneer, felt, and collage prints made by the Design and Technology Department in collaboration with the Art Department.
“ Everyone gives a hand in fostering inclusivity in our community at Hurst. ” Phoebe Lewis, Director of EDI
