During the Easter break, two groups of students embarked on a journey for their DofE awards.
The first group set off on their silver DofE assessment on a trek from Chilgrove near Goodwood back to Lancing College. This assessment consisted of three plus days of trekking and two nights camping at Bignor and Washington.
The girls made excellent progress and arrived at every checkpoint on time. The weather was kind to them during their hike and Mr Simkins even said that they had Micheline star quality menus!
For the gold, the second group consisting of four Lower Sixth students embarked on four-day training and practice expedition in the Brecon Beacons in South Wales. They camped near Talybont-on-Usk and trekked over the Blorenge and Llangatock hills.
This time, the weather was not so kind with the winds and the first practice day navigation being on the South Downs! The team did extremely well to negotiate 40mph winds topped with horizontal rain, this is never easy. Luckily, however, they did have a calm and pleasant final day trek.
