On Sunday, 10th of December, Hurst students braved the wind and rain at Coombelands Equestrian for their final NSEA show of the year. All the classes at this show were qualifiers for the NSEA final at Hickstead Showground in May. Students were jumping a course of both showjumps and more natural obstacles, with the winners being those clear and closest to the optimum time.
Hurst put forward riders to every class on the day and had amazing results. Millie S was 4th in the 70cm with a clear, which qualifies her as an individual for the final. There were some lovely rounds jumped in the 80cm, with both Danielle I and Izzy A jumping double clear. Izzy’s clear was done in an excellent time, which meant she won the class and qualified for the final in May.
Next was the turn of the 90cm riders, with Hurst putting forward two teams of three. All members of Hurst Blue jumped clear and therefore finished on a score of zero – the only team to do so, winning their class and qualifying. Well done Danielle, Izzy, and Morten. Hurst Red did well too, finishing in 3rd place and only just missing out on qualifying. Hurst riders were also successful individually, with Ralf B finishing in 3rd place and qualifying as an individual, and Morten coming 5th.
Finally, it was time for the 1m class. It was a challenging course, with all riders having faults apart from Ellie A who jumped a beautiful clear. This result was good enough for Hurst to take home another win and a final qualification. Ellie was 3rd and Ralf 4th individually, qualifying them both for the final. Olivia S also jumped well enough to pick up 6th place.
Well done everyone who came to the show and braved the weather. It was a great day for Hurst with three wins and qualifications at every height, including five individual and two team qualifications.
