On Monday afternoon, the first Junior Prep School Picnic and House Games took place on Manyweathers Field.
Tasked with creating a carousel of games for pupils from Reception to Year 6, this year’s junior house captains led their house in a variety of different games and challenges, including relay races and the immensely popular ‘Cut the Cake’.
Watching from the sidelines and stopping to talk to the pupils in each house, was Yvrose, founder of Hope Christian Academy in Haiti. We have supported her amazing work running an orphanage and free school outside Port Au Prince for several years and we were privileged to welcome her as our guest of honour for the afternoon.
Yvrose shared stories with the pupils about how and why she set up HCA and how she intends to spend the money we raised at the recent Hurst ‘Heroes’ Fun Run.
We have already raised £1,308 of our £2,000 target and the donation page is still open at this link Hurst Fun Run 2023.
We look forward to starting our fundraising plans for next year which will focus on helping to set up a sewing room and adult training courses for local women so that the school can make uniforms for the pupils and local community.
