We were blessed with good weather and high spirits as we collected cakes and bakes from pupils arriving for the annual Macmillan cake sale. An opportunity for pupils to take part in their first house event of the year, they embraced it whole-heartedly arriving with tins, boxes and bags of beautifully decorated baked goods. Icing and sprinkles in house colours topped cupcakes and traybakes as far as the eye could see along trestle tables in the playground. As the pupils from Reception, Year 1 and 2 came out in the morning sunshine, they thoroughly enjoyed perusing the tables before making their selection and taking their carefully chosen cake back to sit on the carpet and enjoy.
The start of morning break brought the rest of Junior Prep to join the seniors and the playground rang with the excited sounds of them buying and selling iced delights. Help was on hand from a team of prefects along with other members of the houses and they worked hard to keep up with customers’ demands. For the first time in a few years, we were able to welcome parents to a coffee morning in the New Bury Theatre, hosted by the HPA; it was a great success and lovely to see so many of them coming together to support Macmillan and enjoy a coffee and chat. We are hugely grateful to all the parents and pupils who created such wonderful offerings and were keen to help on the day. We raised a fantastic £1105.74 from both donations and sales and would like to thank everyone who took part.
