A best ever triathlon turnout was a brilliant way to start a glum looking Saturday as almost 90 pupils signed up across Years 3-8.
The triathlon consisted of a swim in the pool, a bike ride around West Astro and a run around the Paddock with different age groups doing a different number of laps for each discipline.
Years 3 and 4 were first up. They were all very keen to get going with many of the boys deciding to do the whole of the bike and run legs in their swimming trunks following the swim leg.
Years 5 and 6 arrived in drizzly conditions, however, this abated and we got going promptly. Over 40 competitors on this event meant it got quite hectic on the course but the effort levels from everybody, and rapturous support from the crowd was second to none.
As the heavens opened and the monsoon came, Year 7 and 8 took to the start line. The pupils were slightly less phased by the weather than the parents and a great race ensued.

“ It was an amazing showcase of a totally different sport. Hopefully our next triathlon in March will see better weather and we might beat the 100 participant mark ” Ben Dewey, Head of Boy's Sport (Prep)
