Individual showcase for talented Year 10 musicians
The Remove Recital was an opportunity for some of our talented Year 10 musicians to showcase their individual work. Thirty per cent of the GCSE course is performing and these young musicians look set to do very well in 18 months’ time.
The concert opened with Maddy W spellbinding the audience with a performance of Ian Clarke’s Hypnosis on the flute. Alex E kept the audience rapt with a highly effective performance of Empty Chairs at Empty Tables from this year’s college Musical, Les Misérables. Matthew G was impressive in his performance of Einaudi’s I Giorni as was Hannah P who admirably played Mozart’s Rondo in D Major on the flute.
Rohan A gave an accurate, fluent and beguiling performance of Holiday in Paris by William Gillock and was followed by Sophie N whose very strong voice was exceptional in her performance of Adele’s Someone Like You. Luka F played Mike Cornick’s Film Noir with accuracy and understanding and was followed by Millie W whose singing of Billie Eilish’s Limbo was lovely and much appreciated by the audience. Tom W rounded off the concert with an atmospheric and very musical performance of A Walk to Strumble Head by Gareth Balch.
“All students who took part should be very proud of their achievements. There is a growing seedbed of talent here that promises excellent musical outcomes in the future,” Neil Matthews, Director of Music.
