Sailing on the Solent!
Despite there being little wind, the crew worked really well together and learned a lot about all the parts of a boat, points of sail, and how to helm. The anchorage was in Bembridge Harbour, near a beach close to the harbour entrance, and the crew were able to go for a swim. The team devoured a sumptuous lunch (provided by Mrs Poole), before setting off again on their return journey.
“ The crew were able to take in the sights of the Solent forts and the underwater submarine barrier that runs from Horse Sands Fort to Southsea. A quick tour of Portsmouth Harbour revealed the absence of the Royal Navy’s Aircraft Carriers and Destroyers. No doubt busy somewhere! ” Simon Poole, Psychology Teacher
