On Monday 12th December, the New Bury theatre hosted the Senior School’s Winter Concert. This was a celebration of all the hard work our ensembles have done this term, whilst also providing some festive cheer. It was fantastic to see so many people brave the snowy conditions to perform and support.
The concert opened with the Senior School Orchestra playing a suite of music from the film Superman Returns. This was followed by the Flute Ensemble who performed a pair of elegant waltzes. Next, our College Brass ensemble entertained with The Prince of Denmark’s March, To Portsmouth, White Christmas and Eye of the Tiger. The Senior School String Ensemble played an arrangement of Bach’s Toccata in D minor. The penultimate performance of the night was given by the Show Choir, who sang The Dreamgiver Medley from Disney on the Record. The evening was concluded by the Senior School Jazz Band with Take the ‘A’ Train and Jingle Bell Rock.
We would like to congratulate all of the pupils who put on such an excellent array of musical treats, and thank all of the music staff for their hard work over the Michaelmas term to make a concert like this possible.
