The weather was a frosty 3 degrees with a gentle breeze; perfect for the 2023 Sussex Cross Country Championships at Waterhall, Brighton. The very best runners from across the county take part with a Sussex vest being awarded to the top 20 in each race and, to the top four, the privilege of racing at the English Schools Championships. Hurst run the event on behalf of Sussex and huge thanks to our staff who volunteered their time, expertise and energy in registration, results and recording.
Hurst were the only school or college to field full teams in all 6 races and were rewarded with 4th place finishes for the Junior and Intermediate boys and 3rd place for the Senior boys. The Intermediate girls (Katie F, Grace M, Ella L, Sophie B) and Senior girls (Lily S, Lucy M, Felicity C, Oona A) won, therefore being crowned Sussex Schools Team Champions 2023. The top placed individuals were Lily S (8th) and Lucy M (12th) in the Senior Girls race, Katie F (11th) in the Intermediate girls race and Ali R-D (17th) in the Intermediate boys.
