The Year 3 and 4 production of The Emerald Crown was a vibrant, colourful and energetic celebration of rainforest life. Set in the Amazon, the story’s key message was one of conservation of this diverse and magical environment.
The story began with ruthless traders arriving via aeroplane to employ lumberjacks, construction workers and gauchos to cut down the rainforest for monetary gain. The toucans, macaws, hummingbirds, jaguars, anacondas, bats, monkeys, tree frogs, mice and rainforest plants resisted the invasion of their habitat, sharing the treasures of their jungle and protecting it from modern man.
The children acted, sang, and danced with vigour and pride. Every child relished the opportunity to perform and shone in their roles.
“ It was a spectacular performance! Pupils and adults alike will be singing the songs for weeks to come! ” Kate O’Neill, Teacher of Year 4
