In the Language Faculty, there were three very successful trips to France, Spain and Greece.
Spain
Highlights of the Spanish trip to Granada included immersive Spanish lessons; trying piononos – a delicacy from a town called Santa Fe, eating two menú del día lunches whilst students practised ordering in Spanish! We had tapas on two of our evenings in local restaurants, and devoured churros con chocolate and tostadas, which are two typical Spanish breakfast ‘must haves’.
France
Meanwhile in Nice, 34 Remove pupils spent five days on the Côte d’Azur. In the mornings pupils were at the language school and in the afternoons, they participated in activities such as the Nice Ville Scavenger Hunt, a visit to the Henri Matisse Museum and a beautiful walk up to the Colline du Château for panoramic views of the French Riviera.
Greece
Over in Greece, the sixth form classicists were exposed to the ‘world-famous’ landmarks of the theatre at Thorikos, the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, the outstanding sights and museums at Delphi and Olympia. While spending time in Athens, pupils had the opportunity to explore the Acropolis, the Agora, the Theatre of Dionysus, the New Acropolis Museum and the National Archaeological Museum. They also travelled to Epidauros, Eleusis and Mycenae. The itinerary was rich and jam-packed with sites and sources drawn from the OCR Classical Civilisation specification.
