Hurst Unplugged is the mellow evening in the middle of a very busy term that brings the tempo and the volume down for an enjoyable showcase of Hurst Music. This year the show was even more unplugged than usual, with just a smattering of guitar amps and a microphone, which only added to the atmosphere and allowed every performer to be heard perfectly clearly.
Natalie H and James W were joint MCs, their first time in the role, and they led the show with confidence and ‘Dad jokes’. The event started with Millie White singing beautifully and was followed by the Remove band (Sophie N, Matthew G, Alfred B and Ollie H). The evening then took a poetic turn, as Aengus D performed a piece that he had written. The Lower Sixth band (Heather L, Tom Y, Matthew H and Ethan M) performed Riptide and Half the World Away. Natalie took to the piano and was then followed by Olivia M who played her own composition with great confidence. Lily S brought us another great original poem and James W followed with yet another strong original composition. The show was rounded off by Natalie again on piano, playing and singing brilliantly.
“ Hurst Unplugged is always a favourite event at the college and it continues to go from strength to strength ” Will Carroll, Head of Music Technology
