On June 5th we celebrated the successes of the Vth form students at the Leavers/Final Chapel service where we were joined by staff, parents, and students.
This was a lovely event and a great way to wrap up what has been a superb year for the Vth form in which they have overcome many challenges but have done so with flying colours and achieved so much as a result.
As part of the service, we reflected on some of the highlights of the year. This included the achievements in sport (U16A’s Bronze medal in the National finals in netball, the fantastic team ethos amongst all the rugby and hockey teams, and swimming with many Vth form students participating in the National Bath cup at the London Aquatic).
We also reflected on the successes of the outdoor education programme in which plenty of medals were won at the National and Regional climbing competitions including a bronze, silver and two gold medals, in CCF also with the Vth completing the advanced and specialised training specific to their chosen service. Furthermore, we also reflected on the phenomenal work carried out by the students in the reading buddies programme at local schools and other amazing work across the community.
Creatively, we looked back on the excellent Giselle performance in dance, the huge involvement from the Vth Form students in hurst concerts and the choir, and the fantastic performances of Sparkleshark and Shrek as well as many academic achievements.
Each subject awarded prizes for those students that had excelled or made significant improvements throughout the year and there were also Head of Year and Headmaster Awards for those students who have been recognised as going above and beyond or for being role models for the year group.
The service was followed by a lovely lunch out in the inner quad in which staff, students and parents had an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the 2022-23 academic year.
“ We wish all the Vth form students all the best with their results in August and hope that they have a wonderful summer, for those leaving us, we also wish you all the best of luck in the future. Thank you for a fantastic year! ” Eliot Newton-Mann, Head of Fifth Form
