This year’s YE team, Reco, has progressed to the Young Enterprise County Final with their unique Eco-Buddy toy for children.
Each toy is handmade to Reco’s own design and combines bright colours with distinctive textures, using second-hand fabric from local charity shops which would otherwise go to landfill. Reco chose their Eco-Buddy product to raise awareness of the amount of fabric which ends up in landfill and the problems which this causes.
The toy comes with a storybook – The Adventures of Eddie the Eco-Buddy – written and illustrated by members of the team, which delivers a strong message about the importance of recycling as well as one about the importance of self-esteem.
Both toy and book proved extremely popular at trade fairs held in Horsham at Christmas (where Reco won the award for Best Stand) and more recently at Burgess Hill.
