Wet and windy conditions greeted our Year 7 and 8 runners at Seaford College, with much changed from the glorious sunshine of last week’s event. The 2.5km course was extremely slippery in places.
Donning their running vests, our pupils were excited and slightly apprehensive as they went out to explore the two-mile course.
The U12 girls race was first off down the hill. Our team put in a great performance with four runners in the top 20. Audrey and Heidi, both new to the school, both made the podium.
In the U12 boys event there was an extremely strong field led by Ardingly College. The Hurst boys performed admirably with Reuben the highest placed in fourth.
The U13 girls race took place in ghastly conditions as the heavens truly opened. After a muddy, slippery race Zoe lead the Hurst troops home in eleventh place and four others finished in the top 20.
The last race of the day was the U13 boys on a very boggy and cut up course. Slightly depleted, the Hurst boys fought valiantly, with Henry taking second place. Our other runners finished with good time despite some injuries on the way.
